Thanks again, Stephen. Time to give XEmacs another try. (I just wish I had not wasted my youth studying Chinese, Japanese, Buddhist prajnaparamita and avatamsaka texts, etc., and had learned some real languages --- C, C++, Lisp, --- instead. I jump into a classical Chinese text with gusto, confidence and hope, but when it comes to installing and configuring a new program, I think, "Damn! Another miserable couple years with no guarantee of results. It doesn't help to recall that all the rest on this list and my son, Michael, could do this blind-folded while carrying on a discussion of IP masquerading on the side.) The only computer illiterate on the tlug list, woo is to me, Jon, who only wants a fully multi-scriptual editor, that works seamlessly with TeX (or something like it) and prints on a PS printer AND a translation major mode that includes A multi-scriptural interface with primary resources such as, Web searches/ Honyaku archives/ EB dictionaries/ Homemade glossaries/ Translation memory AND back office functions such as Invoice generation/ Jobs database/ Management Reports (Production Rate, Job Status, Client Status, ...) AND Translation Production Speed-up Technologies such as, Auto-replace, Spell-checking, Thesaurus Help, Auto-backups, Version control, Source-target cross reference index, ... AND Dictation text entry and program control.
