Hi!

A while ago, there was a discussion on this list about the
problems with the NeoMagic chipset that became popular with
manufacturers of NotePCs - who's producers stupidly don't
release the specs.

I was just told by a colleague about the following link

which provides a patch for XFree86 3.3.2's XF86_SVGA that is
supposed to add support for the NeoMagic chipset (there is a
nice list of machines for which successful use was already
reported -- including the sexy VAIO 505).

(I didn't try it yet personally.)
