Geez, you gotta love Linux support.

The gentleman is *apologizing* because he can't generate a fix in the
next three or four working days (on his own time)!  Bypassed the
"determine the problem is really in the driver" and "*admit* the problem
is really in the driver" stages altogether.  For old and essentially
unsupported hardware to boot.
