Actually, I have quite some trouble with XIG's lattest server and Japanese locale support (I also have a Slackware-based system). There are locale files, but using `Canna' and `kinput2', applications often have problems opening the input method and terminate. I didn't have time so far to try figuring out what's going wrong. Maybe I just configured things in the wrong way, I didn't have these problems with XIG's older server (3.1).
