Well, I think a bit different. 甲 Kou Kinoe (Ki:木 wood)(e: big brother) 乙 Otsu Kinoto (to: little brother) 丙 Hei Hinoe (Hi:火 fire) 丁 Tei Hinoto 戊 Bo Tsuchinoe (Tsuchi:土 soil) 己 Ki Tsuchinoto 庚 Kou Kanoe (Kane:金 metal) 辛 Shin Kanoto 壬 Jin Mizunoe (Mizu:水 water) 癸 Ki Mizunoto The 60 year cyclic counting is like: 甲子 year 1 Kinoe-Ne 乙丑 year 2 Kinoto-Ushi ... 壬戌 year 59 Mizunoe-Inu 癸亥 year 60 Mizunoto-I -- Big/Little brother can be also considered as Yin/Yang (In-You in Japanese). Anyway it is Chinese origin and not with much change. I don't know rabit/cat issue.
