unable to  boot up ipc sun with red hat linux
booting stops at  loading appletalk protocol
tried to boot up with red hat linux boot up disk..returns to red hat
setup screen.

My ipc have no cd rom and have no network connection only way to access
is from floppy. I tried to download the boot img from the red hat linuz
for sparc but the file  goes beyond 1.44 so i can not get it in a floppy
formatted with dos.

how can i transfer the boot.img to a floppy ? i am not able to do it
in a dos machine...............since the  size of the file will not fit
in a dos formatted disk.

doe somebody have another idea how to transfer  a boot.img file from a
dos machine to the ipc sparc????.....
 i want to boot up my ipc with red hat linux but since i dont have any
copies of red hat cd rom or floppies for the ipc sparc..i am very locked
up.......
or can somebody lend me the red hat for sparc cd rom and diskkettes for
a while to fix my system...???

hi...

I create the boot up disk using the rawrite  for dos.... i download
rawrite
from the same site you pointed..for  linux sparc
rawrite boot.img a:

( the boot.img you gave me to download)

thsi created a floppy disk then  i did in the IPC
boot floppy
finally boot up from floppy!!!
BUT!

went to all the detection step an then the floppy boot up process  try
to set up
red hat again with the set up screen and asking for the cdrom of
linux.???? i
coudl not get off of this screens...uhmmmm

i was able to browse the system pressing alt + f2

but nothing else.......
once again heeelpp!!!

did i use the wrong boot.img?
or wrong way to create the floppy
should i create the floppy within the sun solaris OS?????
i am still impatient to make my IPC booting ......
