I've been following the posts here about PPP connections and ATT WorldNet under Linux and have put in the perl script that was recenty posted here, as well as putting in my userid and password in chap-secrets and pap-secrets, but I still cannot make a succesful connection. My setup is an NEC Aterm IT55 DSU terminal adapter on COM 2 with Pacific Hi-tech's new Turbo Linux 1.0 distribution. When I run the script, it dials but fails after about 10 seconds (or less). Once this has happened, it won't even dial after that. The ER light comes on, but the ACT light never does (neither blinking nor solid). I'm trying to connect to the ATT WorldNet Tokyo access point. I've spent days on this and have yet to make a PPP connection. I'm new to Linux but a very experienced computer user in general and have been succesfully using ISDN under Windows 95 for a long time. I should have a dedicated Internet connection by the end of December and then this won't be an issue anymore (I've set Linux up on a dedicated connection and it's a snap; I wish PPP was that easy), but I'd still like to be able to make this work. In the meantime, I'm glad I have a Windows 95 install to make a PPP connection with :-) This is a clipping of several attempts as recorded in /var/log/messages. Unfortunately, there seems to be no indicator of why this isn't working, but perhaps someone more familiar with PPP on Linux will see something that I can't: Nov 29 19:47:15 localhost syslog: ROOT LOGIN ON tty1 Nov 29 19:48:07 localhost innd[396]: s Nov 29 19:49:13 localhost kernel: registered device ppp0 Nov 29 19:49:13 localhost pppd[728]: pppd 2.2.0 started by root, uid 0 Nov 29 19:49:14 localhost chat[729]: abort on (BUSY) Nov 29 19:49:14 localhost chat[729]: send (ATDT0353243781^M) Nov 29 19:49:15 localhost chat[729]: expect (CONNECT) Nov 29 19:49:27 localhost chat[729]: ATDT0353243781^M^M Nov 29 19:49:27 localhost chat[729]: NO CARRIER^M Nov 29 19:50:00 localhost chat[729]: alarm Nov 29 19:50:00 localhost pppd[728]: Connect script failed Nov 29 19:50:00 localhost pppd[728]: Exit.
