I re-read Alan> the RPM Manager commands I decided to use the rpm -ivh Alan> --replacefiles rh-motif-devel*. Nah, this just qualifies you as one who knows enough to use a command like that. Anyway, if it doesn't work, you soon will know enough about it :-) Suggestion: use the information command to RPM to ask the package what files it installed. See if it overwrote anything in the X distribution, and if so, what. Such overwriting will probably not break X (very badly). If it did, and you are worried about it, you can always reinstall X over top of it. This may or may not break Motif, if for example they patched a fatal bug in X, and the patch hasn't made its way into the XFree86 RPM yet. Your grandchildren will be impressed, someday ;-) Steve --------------------------------------------------------------- TLUG Meeting Dec. 13, 12:30 at Tokyo station Yaesu Chuo ticket gate 13:30 Starbuck's coffee. 13:45 HSBC | info: joem@example.com At least 3 functional Sparc IPC machines will be raffled out --------------------------------------------------------------- a word from the sponsor: TWICS - Japan's First Public-Access Internet System www.twics.com info@example.com Tel:03-3351-5977 Fax:03-3353-6096
