tlug: grepping in Japanese

--------------------------------------------------------
tlug note from Dennis McMurchy <denismcm@example.com>
--------------------------------------------------------
  Hi all,

I just discovered (shock and horror!) that I can't seem to grep
with a Japanese search string. It just hadn't come up. I can search
individual files, of course, from vi or whatever, but when I tried to
grep a whole directory I found it impossible.

I tried quoting the string and even making a one-line script using
both grep and jgrep, but bash won't let me enter kanji at the kterm
prompt and complains about the script that "bash: ./search: cannot
execute binary file". It clearly doesn't like that kanji.

It seemed to me that there was a jbash in the JE, but it doesn't
appear to have been installed on my system. Is that what I need
to make this work?
