Wasn't all that delicate; no surfer jam, people must have a lot of
work today. Anyway, it was a relatively small (170K) shar file.

Didn't work. All it is supposed to do, actually, is localize your
Java tools by setting properties (dialog text) for certain classes. I
guess you can already write Unicode programs, and localized programs,
in Java---this just gives a Japanese user interface. I tried it in
the configuration specified, with the `classes' and `ja' directories
off $JAVA_HOME, and also off of $JAVA_HOME/lib (which is where
`classes' lives in JDK1.0.2). I tried with LANG=ja as in the docs,
and also with LC_ALL=ja. No luck.

This may very well be due to the fact that I don't have a localized
version of Linux libc (just the default, about which the man page says
"only C and POSIX, which are identical, are supported"). So YMMV if
you've localized your Motif and Linux libs to get Japanese buttons in
Netscrap and the like. I'd be interested to hear from people who have
a localized Netscrap setup to see if it works.

Note that since the Japanese localization package only adds resource
files, you can undo it with simply `(cd $JAVA_HOME; rm -r ja classes)'
(assuming you haven't added any other classes; JDK for Linux by
default has all classes packed into classes.zip).
