Hi y'all.

The current issue of Communications of the ACM (March '97) focuses on
recommender systems for the WWW.  Recommender systems can (1) help
users in isolation search for "good" pages, both by helping to find
useful keywords and by providing agents to do the searching while the
user is offline, and (2) aggregate preferences of several users, with
sensitivity to individual profiles.  ISPs especially would be
interested in this issue, but I suspect it has some applicability to
us all ("Hip deep in the Big Muddy!  Waist deep, neck deep!  Soon a
tall man will be over his head!").
