tlug: kernel 2.0.? and AHA1522 controllers

I've been trying to use some legacy AHA1522 adaptec controllers
with kernel 2.0.0 and up, and both the compiled-in driver and
the modules crash.  

Does anybody have experience with this? 

Luckily, I still have an extra Buslogic 946c to work with- I
recently saw it at DOS/V in Akihabara listed as "The controller
for Linux".
