I have be meaning to compile this up, but I thought I'd take another
look at etlport. Low and behold there is a newer version, with an
encouraging note in the readme on the 25th:

        o gnumule-19.34.91.gamma.tar.gz
                This is very close to the comming Emacs 20.0 which
                contains mule features.

I wish I knew when 20 was due out... Guess I'll wait a bit.
