Hi, I've spent the better part of the afternoon trying to get Silicon Graphics' HylaFAX package set up and working, but, alas, without success. It looks it should be a nice, full-featured, well-documented (great hypertext) package, but it's not much good if it doesn't run! There's a Linux binary, which installs just by unpacking the tar.gz file. However, when you try to run any of the programs they complain like this: /usr/local/bin/sendfax: can't load library 'libg++.so.27' Ok, well my library is called libg++.so.2.7.0 . Sounds close enough, so I make a link to it from ...so.27 . No go! Now we can't resolve the references. Fortunately, the source is available at the same URL, ftp://ftp.sgi.com/sgi/fax/ so I tried compiling it. Everything is very well set up, all nicely automated, but the compile fails to produce some of the key executables. At this point I give up. Anybody else had better luck? This looks like it's worth a little hassle (if necessary) to get going. But I'm open to alternate suggestions too.
