A response from Walnut Creek

Hi all,

I recently inquired of Walnut Creek CDROM  whether they had any ides 
as to why I haven't been able to compile newer (and older) kernels 
that recognize my SCSI drives when they boot. Which versions of libc 
and gcc should I be using? Did this guy read my inquiry? BTW, I 
bought the Slackware from Walnut Creek and the two lines that follow 
are the entirety of his reply.

Newer kernels probably wont compile with older versions of gcc and
libc. I'd suggest upgrading to newer versions of both.

I snipped the rest as you've already seen it. Was this a 'reasonable' 
reply from WC? 

Should I deep 6 Slackware and try Red Hat? Slackware 
is on /dev/sda1 and most of the *good* stuff is on /dev/sda2. If I 
trash Slackware and install Red Hat to /dev/sda1 will all the 
programs on /dev/sda2 still work?
