How do I get it to start accepting romanji for conversion to Kanji?
In uum I press ctrl-\ and this small window opens up at the bottom
of the screen. I think press ctrl-w to do the henkan.

For example, in xjdic,

I have
(Enter ? for a summary of operating instructions)

XJDIC SEARCH KEY:
[---]

When I press ctrl-\ the small [---] becomes a hiragana 'a' and
romanji r.

If I want to input kanji as the search string, how do I begin
the input?

I've read through the settings in
/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/ccdef but don't have a clear idea of what
to do.

Craig
