The technical term is "mojibake." On Tue, 17 Sep 1996, Darren Cook wrote: >> It should work, so it is probably using a different (ie. not >> Japanese) font for the buttons. Craig> What Fixed Font are you using? I've tried Fixed (Misc) and Craig> Fixed (Jis). Where are you specifying the fonts? Hmm. I don't know of any pages where the buttons are labelled in Japanese. I can't check my proposed solution or the bug either. I bet Darren doesn't either (he wrote "should work" which could either mean "it works on my machine" or "any decent programmer would have made it work that way"). Somebody ought to give a pointer to the relevant page so we can see who's getting it right and who isn't. If you think you've got a bug, you should always provide input so others can reproduce it. -- Stephen John Turnbull University of Tsukuba Yaseppochi-Gumi Institute of Policy and Planning Sciences http://turnbull.sk.tsukuba.ac.jp/ Tennodai 1-1-1, Tsukuba, 305 JAPAN turnbull@example.com ----------------------------------------------------------------- a word from the sponsor will appear below ----------------------------------------------------------------- The TLUG mailing list is proudly sponsored by TWICS - Japan's First Public-Access Internet System.
