There has been similar discussion for the Tokyo PC Users club BBS.
The difference between email and web-BBS is, that email is passive (you get
the messages without doing anything more than checking for mail), while with
a web page (or a dial-up BBS) you have to point your browser there which
means remembering each day.
For me, with a casual interest in Linux, I skim the messages as they come
in, but would probably not bother to go to a web BBS each day. This would be
my loss - I enjoyed the discussion of home-based LANs for instance.
