xjdic22 problems

I'm having problems with xjdic version 2.2 

I'm running Linux kernel 2.0.7  and gcc 2.7.2

I have xjdxgen and xjdic22sa in usr/local/bin
I have placed the edict and kanjidic files in /usr/local/edict:

-rw-r--r--   1 root     root         5090 Aug 25 22:50 vconj
[root@example.com edict]# 

When I try to create the index file, I get this error:

[root@example.com /root]# xjdxgen /usr/local/edict/edict

Commandline request to use files /usr/local/edict/edict and 
/usr/local/edict/edict.xjdx 
Segmentation fault (core dumped)
[root@example.com /root]# 


Without the index tables I can't use other programs like
tkdict.  Any ideas?
