[LINUX:8] ramdisks?

Since I put in the extra ram to bring it to 20 megs, I seem to
be getting a lot better performance in X-windows.  However,
I really see a lot of disk swap when I use PPP applications.
My lilo ramdisk setting was set to
 
   ramdisk=0   # paranoid setting
 
I reset it to:
 
   ramdisk=5
 
Does anyone know if this is megs or some other setting.
How does one check the amount of ramdisk in unix?  Maybe I
should ask this question in unix?
