This thread is quite a trip down Memory Lane. Great to see your name
pop up, Craig. I never got a copy of "Linux日本語環境". I should track it
down.
The references to EUC/Shi(f)t-JIS/etc. made me wonder whether I'd
shared here an article/paper I did a couple of years ago on Japanese
character sets and coding. It's called "Kanji and the Computer: A
Brief History of Japanese Character Set Standards." and I wrote it
because I kept encountering people who didn't know the trials we went
through back then. It's available at:
