- Subject: [tlug] Intel Server Board S1200BTL
Last weekend I posted on Yahoo auctions a quite decent (albeit old) server motherboard with a Xeon E31230 3.20Ghz and 16GB RAM installed.[1] This is special in that, among other things, it allows you to do everything (even the BIOS setup) not just from the built-in VGA and a keyboard, but also over one of the two serial ports. (It's also got a BMC[2] with IPMI 2.0; I don't recall if this is also network-enabled or not, but I would guess it is.) This for many years was my primary server for Starling Software and, later, my business-level Internet connection at home, running mail, web etc. servers. It's not seeing a lot of interest on YA, so I thought I'd mention it here in case anybody needs a server-level motherboard with out-of-band management or just wants something to play with to learn about that sort of thing. Though the auction ends Sunday evening, it's currently awaiting even a ¥1 bid. Shipping is around ¥1100 in the greater Tokyo area, but I'm happy to save you that by handing it over to you in person somehwere not too far from Shibuya or at a meetup or nomikai. I also have a few other far less interesting things for sale[3] (a "normal" motherboard, some cards, etc.), in case someone happens to have a need.
