> trick for recoveringThe raspberry pi thing got me thinking about worn out sd cards, but one unrelated thing I've had success with in the past is sandpaper on the contacts -- they can oxidize such that they don't get a good connection. They can also wear so much that they don't get enough force from the connectors, so sandpaper may be of limited value after the initial bumps quickly wear back down. But worth a shot if the data is important.
