Thanks to everyone for the exhaustive information!

I don't have a paid Google account (nor do I particularly want one), so I'll probably just look into a service like Fastmail or just hack together some sort of solution that displays the mails in a webpage. I don't usually get important email to those addresses, so it's enough to just be able to read the mail in case there's some non-spam there. ;)
