[tlug] NOT SOLVED: BIOS / Video not fixed

I'm baaaaaaaaaack and the problems aren't going away.

After the suggestion that my problems may have originated with my installation of Lubuntu 17.10 which altered my motherboard BIOS, I went back and unboxed a brand new ASUS M5A97 Plus motherboard (I have several M5A-series motherboards and thought I'd go ahead and standardize) and transferred the CPU, memory, PS, video card, HDDs and CD/DVD burner into the same case as before.

No video -- on either the monitor or the TV (tried both) -- no accepted keyboard or mouse input (either USB or PS/2).  I have a Debian 9.2 Live CD in the CD/DVD player/burner which gets seen first and continues to spin.

- I've tried starting with memory in both slots A1+A2 and A1+B1.
- I've tried starting with just one 8Gb stick of memory in slot A1.
- I've verified that the memory timing is the same as the brand-name memory specified by the motherboard manufacturer
- I've tried two different Nvidia video cards.
- I've tried an ASUS monitor and TV
- I've tried straght HDMI <-> HDMI and DVI <-> HDMI cable connections as well as three different HDMI cables of varying ages (including  one new cable purchased during the wek).
- I've tried two different power supplies.
- I've tried with a ground wire screwed into the power supply case and not.
- The electrician who wired this house has checked the wiring and says that the 2-wire sockets are all grounded through the left prong of every connector.

About the only thing I haven't tried is exchanging out the CD/DVD player.

As noted previously, this was a working system before I tried checking and SSD from annother box.

What can I try from here ... ?
