I've been using Mint with the Cinnamon for release 14 and a couple of 
weeks using release 15.  It's based on Ubuntu 13.04.  But I've been 
installing English and adding Japanese so I have no idea how that will 
work.

I've used Ubuntu for some time now installing English and adding 
Japanese.  I really don't like Unity -- but like Cinnamon a lot.
