Every once in a while, I go through the same process on Ubuntu 13.04
but I always end up forgetting what it is I do.  Things have gotten
easier recently and I think if I install the "ibus", "ibus-anthy", and
"ibus-gtk3" packages and all its dependencies, then most of it is
done.

I then would have to start up ibus.  I can't remember what I did, but
what it says here looks familiar:

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ibus

I *think* that was it.  Sorry, I don't know how different this would
be for Kubuntu...  Hope this helps!
