Still Thinkpads.  Althou rumour has it that quality dropped, I did not have
any bad experiences with my Thinkpads in the last years.

There are also (unique?) features like the nipple.

Support from Linux is also excellent, we have them almost exclusively around
and heavily contribute to have the hardware well supported.  As a result
Fedora/Centos/ScientificLinux/RHEL play nice on Thinkpads out of the box.
