It's not a rent. What is paid is the work of registration service and the
management of his domain by another company.
If the domain has been set administratively "on hold", then a notification has
been sent by the registrar on every nic handle mail address. If there's none
for the owner, or the reseller gave its own, things will get harder.

record ? If it has expired and entered "redemption period", then this case

[1] if your business depends on it, you can drop your reseller and manage it
directly then solve your conflict and contract breach damages with the
reseller.
[2] if it is ranked in google, keyword ads companies will try to buy it
faster :/
