This often happens when manufacturers don't look to the future.
It is probably that 1GB[0] was the largest size card available at the time
the SLC-3000 driver was developed, so that's the largest size card supported.
[0] - yes, GB not GiB, SD card manufacturers use the same tricks as hard
disk manufacturers, so a 1GB card will have roughly a billion bytes
capacity, not 2^30 (1,073,741,824) bytes.
