Edmund, Thanks for responding.Are you saying you replaced your /etc/fstab file with a symlink to an fstab file on your /home partition?Yes, yes I did. You know, it's not easy coming up with new and innovative ways to make end-user mistakes.So would "hosts", "exports", and "httpd.conf" be safe to symlink?You could probably have fixed things without reinstalling by mounting your /home partition manually then getting rid of the symlink and copying the fstab file back.Maybe, but it kept saying the whole drive was read only, even if I logged in as root.
