Is PHP5 module up?Make sure there is php5_module loaded with your apache. You can use apache2ctl -M for this.On Sat, Nov 1, 2008 at 11:24 AM, Dave M G <dave@example.com> wrote:
TLUG,
Yesterday I upgraded to the latest Ubuntu, which is Intrepid Ibis, 8.10.
Aside from their new HAL settings making my Wacom a hassle, I'm also having trouble with my LAMP server. Though, I suspect, the latter is not so much to do with Ibis as it is with some settings that may be lingering on my system that are causing trouble.
There was nothing in the upgrade process that indicated a problem with my LAMP server, but, when it was finished, it seemed that the whole LAMP setup had been uninstalled. No biggie, I thought, since I have mostly default settings. I went into Synaptic package manager, where they have an option to "install by task", which lets me get all the LAMP related packages in one fell swoop.
But, once it was installed, it wasn't working. When I go to http://localhost, I don't get the "It Works!" message from Apache, I get a list of files and directories. Not all directories are accessible, which I assume is just a permissions issue.
Anyway, I dutifully went to look at my error logs in /var/log/apache2, but all it has is:
[Sat Nov 01 11:14:43 2008] [error] [client 127.0.0.1] File does not exist: /var/www/favicon.ico
At least, that's all it has since I did the upgrade.
I tried opening a PHP script, and I get an option dialogue box from Firefox asking if I want to download the "PHTML" file.
It seems like Apache isn't running at all, but when I restart Apache from the command line, it says "[ OK ]".
Any ideas what might have gone wrong here?
Thanks for any advice.
