TLUGers, As an aside to my yet-unresolved SSH keypair problem, some of you may have noticed the domain name of 21dzk, and I think that some might be interested what we are doing, computer-wise. I just moved to Todai to work at a digital humanites project (called 次 舌皛逅跂勉闕唫札鵐拭\xBC), which has as its center a text database of the East Asian Buddhist canon (大舌皛逅跂勉闕√\xB4). We are going to develop this canon by embedding it with all kinds of layered data and metadata, so that when one selects a text for study or search, all kinds of related information, including English translations, scholarly articles, lexical resources and so forth will be readily accessible through a single interface. We currently have a prototype up and running (which is already actually fairly sophisticated). If you go to http://21dzk.l.u-tokyo.ac.jp/SAT/database.html You can search terms in the entire Japanese version of the Buddhist canon (which is huge) rather quickly. Even better, if you click on the tree items and open up a text, then use your mouse or keys to select a portion of the _kanbun_ text, all of the terms within that selection that are contained in my online dictionary will appear on the right. You can then click on those links to open the entries in the dictionary. I know that not that many people are interested in Buddhism (at least to this level), but I think that what we are building stands as a model, to some extent, for the future of textual studies in the area of Humanities Computing (of course, all of the people involved at the basic level are Linuxers). My seeking help with this SSH matter is not directly related to the maintenance of this database. The project members have simply provided me with a directory to store my basic working data, and I'd like to use this to rsync my various computers placed in various locations.
