Actually there is an interesting case in Korea, where a combination of nationalistic sentiment and a hatred of Microsoft has led to a situation where the majority of Koreans use the homegrown word processor HWP (Hangul Word Processor--running on Windows, of course). I am still amazed by the fact that virtually everything my Korean colleagues send me is written in this.
