For the record the Mac situation was originally due to the need for a UNIXy laptop where the OS plays very well with the hardware (particularly power saving / battery life) and with decent out-of-the-box multilingual support. My home desktop up until I moved here was (K)Ubuntu, and at some point I'll get round to acquiring a similar setup. Ian Barwick
