Which one did you strongly disagree with, the IE8 one or the API War one?

I thought the point was quite apropos: if you fuck up standards
support, it is hard to come back from that, because all of your users
think your browser is broken when it only *was* broken. ;)

That Vista's lack of popularity is largely due to the outcome of the
pragmatists vs. idealists war at Microsoft. That is an interesting
story, and has some lessons that are important for Open Source as
well.

Cast aside backwards compatibility only with great care and a lot of
forethought.
