I know what you mean about the manpage, but it never confounded me
for long. One automated task I run now took me a bit to figure out as
it's a conversion from a very old Voice Card format to mp3. I'm pretty
sure I had to do it as a two or three step process to get it to
properly work. Now it's worked fine for two years or so.

Sox isn't the prettiest thing to use in the world, but when you just
want to do something simple or implement it with something else
(perhaps automated) it really is nice.
