However from what I've read online > this is a pretty tough procedure, as alsa is referenced in the kernel, > etc. Can't help with your specific problem, but I think it might be a good idea to poke around the alsa site http://www.alsa-project.org/main/index.php/Main_Page and have a read thru the alsa mailing list archives before digging in. It may have nothing to do with the version. If you do roll back the libs, etc, you will want to make sure that the version matches the version in your kernel, or vice versa. I have installed alsa from scratch, but it was a couple years ago and memory fades..... However, at that time I rebuilt the kernel with the version of alsa I wanted to install. Don't remember any major problems... Ed
