[tlug] Recommended light weight browser

Hi,

I've been a fan of FireFox up to 2.0.0.8 but since 2.0.0.9, FF asked me a lot of extra memory that I don't have.
So I am looking for another alternative ( under Linux and Windows ) that supports Gmail 

Currently, I have following choice:

1. Tuning FF ( e.g about:config )
2. Switch to Mozilla 1.x
3. Other browser (?)

I had very good experience with Mozilla 1.x but it seems old now and I am not sure if it is safe to use.
