[tlug] mailer not connecting to localhost

Upgrading my Debian to unstable, I was able to solve a few different 
problems with missing packages, but ended up with one new problem.

In Icedove, I had been retrieving local system messages by setting up an 
account with "localhost" designated as the POP server name. Before the 
upgrade, all was working fine, but now when I try to retrieve the mail, 
Icedove reports  "Could not connect to server localhost: the connection 
was refused".

I've spent a couple of hours Googling for clues, as well as digging 
through the TLUG archives, but haven't yet turned up something that can 
help me track down the problem. Any pointers would be much appreciated.
