Why advocacy of free software is so often associated with this kind of intolerance of others' value systems is a mystery to me.
Poor analysis of other people's motivations, probably due to analyzing them from the perspective of one's motivations, rather than observing the other party's behaviour.
For Free Software advocates, the freeness of software is a very important thing. It can be very hard for someone to whom this is so important to comprehend that many people simply couldn't care less about how free their software is.
