I'll see what I can do. It would be better if a native Japanese did
it though. I'll also try to get in touch with Ken Handa at ETL Mule
Lab.

Does anybody have a good URL for the procedural issues (specifically,
why pushing it through via the PAS backdoor sucks?)

Of course.

According to http://www.itscj.ipsj.or.jp/protect/gijutsu/0707list.html,
there will be a meeting of the TC on 07/30, at which SC34 (DIS29500)
will be discussed. Furthermore, the nominal closing date for votes is
2007-09-02. So I suppose they're still open for comments, at least.

SC34 is associated with Professor (?) Keisuke Kamimura of Kokusai
U. (GLOCOMM?). Cf. http://www.policyspace.com/cat/cat_125.php. This
search

http://www.google.co.jp/search?q=%E4%B8%8A%E6%9D%91%E3%80%80OOXML&lr=lang_ja&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:ja-JP-mac:official&client=firefox

hits real paydirt. Time for me to sleep, though.

I'm not optimistic.
