The name "Tim Paterson" comes to mind here. He created QDOS, renamed 86-DOS, for the 8086-based S100 board while working at Seattle Computer Products. M$ bought the rights to market 86-DOS for other hardware. Paterson later started up his own company that was ultimately bought by..... M$. The ONE AND ONLY innovative piece of work ever done by Microsoft was Altair-BASIC. Period. Everything else was either bought and relabeled or a complete dog's dinner (if not both). -- G.
