Welcome to post-1995 e-mail. This has been going on for years. Spammers
do it almost systematically.

No, and that's one of the biggest "flaws" of SMTP. In quotes because
"fixing" it creates a buttload more problems.

Google for SPF and for "domain keys", but be aware that not everyone
actually checks against SPF records and domain keys, although recent
versions of SpamAssassin do include such checks in the final score.
