Thank you for responding.
As you all pointed out, the problem essentially lay with not having specified a complete path to the "sh" command.
I followed the advice that said I should do away with the "sh" command anyway, by making the shell script executable (by adding "#! /bin/sh" to the top of the file and executing "chmod +x" on it).
I've verified that it works by adding an extra command to send me an email when it runs, and it did so this morning.
