Stephen,What does ls -l /lib/modules/2.6.17.7/build/include/linux/version.h
tell you?
It says "file not found"
2. You can definitely get old headers at ftp.kernel.org (ie, the
whole source tarball).
Okay, I went to kernel.org, and looked up kernel 2.6.17.7, and found a linux-2.6.17.7.tar.gz file. Downloaded it and then...
Wasn't clear to me after that what to do. I'm not sure what you mean when you say:You can read the distro's diff for the oldest
header package you can find to see if it touches any files you're
interested in
What's the "distro's diff", and how do I see if it "touches" anything?
Don't I have to install or configure these kernel files in order for them to be found by anything that needs them for installing (like my Nvidia driver)?
