We are now getting away from the original purpose in this thread, which
was to create an environment allowing a casual Windows user to enjoy a
similar desktop experience in a Linux installation.

Things are getting easier in this respect, with the appearance of new
distributions that are multimedia-enabled from the start. And in the
second quarter of this year, a free click-and-run application service
is coming that also supports all the necessary codecs and graphics
drivers for multimedia.
