Re: [tlug] Looking for advice on the best way to rebuild a gentoo box

However, if you just want to solve your java upgrade problems,
you can try the Gentoo Java Upgrade Howto:

http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/java/java-upgrade.xml

It worked for me, but it may not be true for others. (I'm trying to
avoid using that awful, cliched ``ymmv''.)

Oh I tried that. Oh I tried... My problem is no matter what I do the java-config-1 never finds and VMs when it should. This then prevents me from doing any upgrades, because many packages want a java-config-1 environment. Actually, I've been thinking that considering how I use Java on my system I can probably just scratch Gentoo's maintenance and do it on my own with just the few tools that I want.

Thanks!
Zev
