Re: [tlug] Debian supported wireless PC Card

Dear Tlug,
I need to add 802.11b/g support to my 4 year old Toshiba Satellite. I
have a PC card slot. Can anyone recommend a card that will work with
Debian, hopefully Sarge? I don't care much about range and speed, since
it will be in fixed location, not far from my own Netgear router, but I
cannot run an ethernet cable.
I don't know about Debian, but I have two laptops running Gentoo. One
has a Belkin wireless card with the realtec 8180 chipset; the other has
an SMC2635W. I bought each one for about US$5. The Belkin uses the
rtl8180 driver, which is in Gentoo portage. The SMC uses a driver from
Michael Wu <flamingice@example.com> called adm8211. Both work
reasonably well and you can't beat the price.
