What version of Joomla are you using?

For my personal site I use drupal www.drupal.org with a gallery2 for my
images in a separate db.

drupal does this.

Never tried but there is a forum management module that comes with the
base system.

You can do this with Drupal but I do not recommend it cause you get
people posting links to their viagra store and what ever else....

http://drupal.org/search/node/chat+room looks like few options there

With Gallery2 you can set up users and groups and a bunch of other things.
I haven't gotten around to setting any thing more than the images
because I am the only one who uploads and manages anything through it.

I just set Joomla up for a a more commercial site I am working on....
I think there are far too many options on top of options, and a couple
of times I think I could have written the code to make the site do what
I wanted quicker than I got it done the first time but.... after I
learnt my way around I found some nice features like a translation
engine a complete form manager plus tons of different skins
unfortunately I like the base one best. Also I was checking the joomla
site and they offer a gallery2 plug in for a more complete integration
but I didn't take time to check it out fully.
Just wondering what your problems with Joomla?
